The Role of a Lifestyle Writer

What It’s Like to Be Part of TAV Times

As a Lifestyle Writer, you’ll play a key role in our publication — collaborating with passionate students, building new skills, and contributing to meaningful creative work.

  • Qualifications – Do I need to have writing experience to join the team?

    No. This is a college-level extracurricular activity whose goal is to train students and provide writers with fundamental skills in writing, research, proofreading, and editing. However, you must submit a sample of your writing so we can assess your current level.

  • What you are expected to commit to

    • Submit at least one quality article per issue.

    • Dedicate a maximum of 3 hours of work per week.

    • Attend biweekly meetings.

  • What you get

    • Access to the TAV Times staff office.

    • Permission to use The TAV Times on your résumé and LinkedIn profile.

    • Experience in content writing.

    • Experience in journalism.

    • Occasional exclusive access to events, locations, and people.

    • Experience in research.

What Happens Next

After You Apply

Once you’ve submitted your application for the Lifestyle Writer position, our Editor-in-Chief and executive team will review your submission. Here’s what you can expect during the review process, training, and opportunities for advancement.

  • Who reviews my application?

    The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for reviewing all applications as well as overseeing the onboarding process for new writers at The TAV Times.

  • Will I receive training?

    Yes. Once you are accepted into the team, the Editor-in-Chief will go over the Introduction to Journalism guide with you, which covers everything you need to know to get started.

  • Can I be promoted?

    Yes. After 1 year of writing (2 sessions), staff members in Tier 1 and Tier 2 can move up to Tier 3 positions, which are better compensated.
